The awards season for property and its related industries is in full swing as the sector gives a mutual hand clap for achievements in what has been a tough market for some time.

On July 18, at the new Hyde Park Doltone House, the Urban Taskforce of Australia will present its awards to an array of developers for their excellence in the projects and how the assets offer high sustainable credentials, efficiencies for tenants and aesthetics.

The finalists for the accommodation hotel industry's premiere awards event - the 2013 Tourism Accommodation Australia (NSW) Awards for Excellence - have also been announced. The finalists represent excellence in accommodation product and service across Sydney and NSW.

The Shangri-La Hotel and the Sydney Harbour Marriott lead the nomination tally with a record 14 nominations each from the field of 38 finalists.

The Hilton Sydney is close behind on 11 nominations (the Hilton won six categories last year), while the InterContinental Sydney and the Radisson Blu Hotel, round out the top five. The award winners will be announced at The Westin, Sydney with NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell, on Wednesday, July 24.

TAA (NSW) chairman Nigel Greenaway said NSW accommodation hotels were world-class and this was reflected in the quality of this year's nominations.
