A soothsayer's voice forever silenced

David Hirst knew economic madness when he saw it and did his best to warn of the Armageddon headed for Wall Street. His powerful voice for sanity and common sense will be greatly missed.

One of the handful of journalists to fully grasp the enormity of the economic crisis that was to commence in late 2007 has died, long before the crisis itself will end.
