LANE COVE WEST Public School students are turning reading into money for charity. The school is running the Premier's Reading Challenge and the MS Readathon concurrently, so students can reach targets with ease.Assistant principal Pip Brown said the readathon was launched at the school to support a staff member with multiple sclerosis."Initially, we started the MS Readathon because one of our staff members suffered from MS,"Ms Brown said."Doing the Premier's Reading Challenge at the same time notonly promotes reading but also supports students who want to help a good cause."Thomas Parsons, 9, said it made sense to let students do both at the same time. "It helps you to read more books," he said.Laura Strassberg, 10, is happy her school motivated students to take part in both challenges. "Reading is good for you," she said.
