Putting skin in the innovation game
Harnessing big business know-how and big investor dollars is the key to driving innovation for Australia's long-term prosperity, says Fiona Wood.
Dr Fiona Wood became a world renowned plastic surgeon when she invented a new treatment for burns victims called ‘spray-on skin'.
In this video Dr Wood says there is a lot of good brain power in Australia, but the key to being able to innovate on a greater scale is collaboration, and merging science with big business. "That's where we will see how we can integrate and take some of those fantastic Australian ideas and really run with them globally,” she says.
Dr Wood's technology is continually improving and will one day be used for a number of different applications. She was born in Britain but we claim her anyway, as one true, Clever Australian.
