Banking on a solar solution

With solar subsidies on the decline in many countries, solar firms are forced to look outside the square for funding. And in doing so, it has caused a shift away from large-scale projects toward mid-sized developments.

US solar power developers are banking on a new set of financing tools to provide the cash for smaller projects as the pipeline for large power plants slows.

Growth in solar installations in the United States has outpaced forecasts in recent months as low panel prices pushed down costs, but the expiration of two key government subsidies last year has constrained financing.
