What's on at Eureka Report this week

Don’t miss Alan Kohler’s interview with CBA boss Ian Narev, while CSL CFO Gordon Naylor will answer your questions.

The earnings season is upon us at Eureka Report and if you recall Adam Carr told us earlier (Earnings season: Four trends supporting better numbers, August 3) to expect an across the board improvement in earnings of more than 4 per cent (excluding miners).

With that in mind it’s worth knowing that analysts are expecting a solid result from Commonwealth Bank this Wednesday (August 12) when CEO Ian Narev presents full year results (CBA operates on a different earnings cycle than its peers, closing the books on June 30).

Analysts are expecting a 5 per cent lift in annual profit from CBA to around $9 billion with a potential capital raising of up to $5bn. In Wednesday evening's edition of Eureka Report we will publish an interview between Alan Kohler and CBA CEO Ian Narev on the result.

Also on Wednesday afternoon at 3pm you can tune into a live interactive Alan will be doing with Gordon Naylor, chief financial officer of CSL – the blood products group which will be reporting its results earlier in the day. CSL is currently on a roll with the stock breaking the $100 mark (again!) last week and looking at a 4 per cent lift in profits to $US1.4 billion. (To see our latest Eureka Moment video on the ‘first batch’ of this season’s earnings results click here.)

Stepping outside the reporting cycle we will also have our LIC analyst James Samson in the studio on Wednesday with Mitchell Sneddon. James will bring us up to date on his income ‘picks’ so far: Two of his first choices Dick Smith and G8 Education have already reported excellent results. James will also review his calls on AHG and his latest addition of two banks – ANZ and NAB – to our expanding income portfolio.

Rounding out our series of P2P lending interviews Alan will have Professor Kevin Davis of the University of Melbourne in the studio on Wednesday at 11.30am to discuss the industry context of this new form of lending and the prudential aspects which will be of great interest to any subscribers planning to invest funds with any of the new P2P operators.

Later in the week it’s your chance to catch two small cap champions in the studio with Alan Kohler: On Thursday at 11am we have former CSIRO exec now entrepreneur Dr Shanny Dyer, the CEO of biometrics group Nemex Resources and at 2pm you can hear from Rod Drury CEO of accounting software house, Xero. Remember as a Eureka Report subscriber you have exclusive access to all these live interviews – put your question on the day or place a question in advance by clicking here. We’re cautiously optimistic here at Eureka Report that the earning season will deliver well – and may even offer some upside surprises – we’ll know a lot more this time next week!
