Our defensive portfolio has served us well, but with harder times coming we prepare for a reassessment of the constituent stocks.

Takeover rumours have driven up the price, but the company has come up with a defence. Either way it is a good bet and, while we prefer Foster's, we would still ACCUMULATE.

The restructuring was greeted coolly, but we like it. Subscribers have made good returns on this stock and some may like to lock in profits. Not us. We will ACCUMULATE ahead of greater growth potential.

TAB Ltd's share price has gone nowhere, and real growth looks questionable. Still, it is a defensive play. ACCUMULATE.

Investor dissatisfaction with the lack of action is misplaced. With BHP restored to health, it is packed with shareholder value. ACCUMULATE.
Primelife faces its detractors
The nation's largest operator of retirement villages has growths prospects, but may take a while to win over doubters. Patient investors can HOLD for the upside.
Coates Hire underperforms
Shareholders may be tempted at this stage to stop losses. That may be a good move if you are in a hurry, but those with no urgency to sell can HOLD for asset value.
What's Noni B's problem?
Noni B has been something of a disappointment, but those in search of a low-priced Miller's-style play should still regard it as HOLD- undervalued.
Singleton's time will come
We like Singleton, but we think there is every chance that buying oppurtunities will present themselves later amid softening economic growth. It's best now to HOLD for the long-run.
