WorleyParsons has won an engineering management contract with Sasol North America for a $21 billion ethane cracker project to southwest Louisiana.

Under the deal, WorleyParsons will provide integrated program management team services for the early engineering and design phase of the $21 billion project, which will use gas to liquids technology (see Cliona O'Dowd's Collected Wisdom).

The contractor will aim to extend the contract to the engineering, procurement and construction phase of the project.

Sasol’s integrated complex will include an ethane cracker that will produce 1.5 mtpa of ethylene with downstream derivative plants and a 96,000 bbl/d gas to liquidas facility.

It will produce high quality transportation fuel, including GTL diesel and other value-adding chemical products.
