Woolworths (WOW) is weighing a move to spin out a portfolio of pubs into a separately listed real estate vehicle valued at more than $600 million, The Australian Financial Review's Street Talk column reports.

According to the newspaper, the retail giant has already courted UBS and Goldman Sachs to advise on a second-half initial public offering, a move that would dramatically alter the make-up of Woolworths' lucrative hotels division ALH Group.

The column reports that while ALH currently runs over 300 pubs, only freeholds will be spun out into the separate entity, which will rank as a listed landlord and compete against market leader ALE Property Group.
