Coal and gas currently dominate Australia and Asia’s rapidly growing electricity generation. While reliable and relatively cheap, use of these fuels involves the release of substantial amounts of the greenhouse gas, CO2. There are a range of technologies already available and under development that offer the potential to capture this CO2 and store it securely underground avoiding any contribution to climate change. The cost and technical viability of these technologies pose major commercial implications for companies engaged in power generation and in the production of gas and coal.

Join Gwen Andrews and Patrick Chui of major power equipment manufacturer Alstom and Climate Spectator editor Tristan Edis as they explain more about this technology, the opportunity and the issues, and answer your questions.

This webinar will cover:

- What are the alternative technological options for capture and storage of CO2 from power generation.

- What are the potential challenges and uncertainties involved with applying these options.

- What is Alstom’s experience around the globe with the application of carbon capture and storage technologies.

- What needs to happen to prove-up these technologies and resolve uncertainties.

- What is the long term potential for these technologies and to what extent could they enable the ongoing use of coal and gas in Australia and Asia.
