AUSTRALIA'S gay community will have a greater voice in Parliament with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex parliamentary friendship group launched yesterday by chief opposition Whip Warren Entsch, ALP Left convener Graham Perrett and Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young.

Mr Perrett, who has two gay brothers, said the group was not about gay marriage.

The group said issues such as aged care, estate planning and retirement are of serious importance for the gay and lesbian community, with government and community preparedness not as advanced as it could be.
