Village Roadshow lifts FY profit

Group expresses confidence in future success in a challenging market.

Village Roadshow (VRL) lifted full-year profit in a challenging market, expressing confidence in the future success of its entertainment venues.

The group's profit attributable to members rose 50.8% to $50.9 million in fiscal 2013, compared with $33.8 million in the previous corresponding period. 

Income from continuing operations rose 1% to $936.4 million in the year, compared with $927.2 million in the prior year.

Village Roadshow will pay a final dividend of 13 cents fully franked in October 2013, which combined with an interim dividend of 13 cents takes the total payout to 26 cents for the year

The company's share price fell 0.48% to $6.17 in morning trade.
