Pacific Brands Ltd chief executive officer John Pollaers has unveiled an ambitious vision for the $700 million clothing company, saying it needs to be appreciated by the community and the market alike, The Australian Financial Review reports.

According to the newspaper, Mr Pollaers told several hundred Pacific Brands staff in Sydney yesterday he was embarking on a mission to restore the group's corporate reputation, saying to it was time to "raise the bar on how it acts and change the way it is perceived".

"My vision is to create the sort of company that becomes known, respected and loved by all as Australian for innovation and design," he said.

"Pacific Brands must be more than just a listing on the stock exchange – it must be powerfully led and an inspiring and exciting brand that makes things possible for people, for the community and for the market."

The AFR reports Mr Pollaers will embark on a two-week tour of Australia and New Zealand to present his vision to more than 4,000 employees.
