Dart Energy Limited

New Hope Corporation, through its subsidiary Krestlake Pty Limited, has served Dart Energy Limited a notice to convene a general meeting.

New Hope is requesting directors Stephen Bizzell, Nicholas Davies and Simon Poidevin be removed immediately.

Proposed incoming directors are Robert Neale, Stephen Lonie, Peter Forbes and Lester Rathie. Robert Neale is a director of New Hope.

Dart has rallied 30 per cent since coming out of a trading halt, after updating the market they needed to raise funds on September 4.

Consumer Staples

Consumer staples was one of the hardest hit sectors in overnight trade, losing 1.14 per cent on the Dow Jones and 0.94 per cent on the FTSE 100.

Yesterday, consumer staples had a rare day at the front of the ASX 200 pack, gaining 1.44 per cent for the day. Woolworths, Wesfarmers and Coca Cola Amatil were the leaders of the sector.

A weaker Australian dollar was viewed as favourable for the sector yesterday, as investors pushed aside concerns about the implications for a higher currency. A lower currency again today could prove beneficial for the sector.
