Social media can be a worthwhile tool for businesses, provided they get the basics right, but is every social channel worth the effort?

In fact, one can easily argue that some businesses are probably better off without jumping on the Twitter, Facebook bandwagon.

Effective use of social media requires a lot of due diligence and its time many small to medium businesses cannot afford to invest. The social media benefit message is an alluring one for businesses but it's not for everyone.
