The Reserve Bank held official interest rates steady on Tuesday (November 1), sending a clear signal to property investors that further rate cuts -- if they happen at all -- are not on the short-term horizon.

The latest inflation data underscores the view that economic growth will remain moderate , and there are signs that some investors may have mispriced the risks associated with investment property and equities (read Callam Pickering's article, Low inflation must lead to an assets rethink). Yet, despite general uncertainty, investment property demand remains strong.

Below I talk with REA Group Chief Economist Nerida Conisbee to discuss the Reserve Bank's recent financial stability review report, the ongoing demand for residential property, and the general market conditions across Australia.
