Newcrest Mining Ltd has appointed Peter Hay as a non-executive directiver, effective today.
In a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange, the miner said Mr Hay brings strong experience in corporate law, business, finance and investment banking to the board.
Mr Hay is chairman of the advisory board at Lazard, a director of Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd, a non-executive director of Myer Holdings Ltd and a non-executive director of Epworth HealthCare.
He is a member of the Australian Government Takeovers Panel and was formerly chief executive officer of legal firm Freehills.
