Frequently Asked Questions about this Article…

InvestSMART Custom is a feature that lets investors personalise their portfolio by adding up to five ETFs from an approved list. The approved menu contains ETFs that meet InvestSMART's selection criteria, so you can tailor exposure to sectors, regions and strategies within that limit.

InvestSMART recently expanded its approved list by adding 50 new ETFs, increasing choice across Australian shares, international shares, fixed interest, commodities and diversified funds.

To be included on the approved list an ETF must receive at least three stars under InvestSMART's in‑house five‑star rating system, ensuring added ETFs meet the platform's minimum quality threshold.

The new ETFs provide exposure across many areas including Australian resources, technology and banks; global shares, emerging markets, Asia, Europe and Japan; robotics and artificial intelligence; defence, energy and gold; plus fixed income options for income and diversification.

Yes. Several of the newly added ETFs are currency‑hedged, such as Betashares Global Energy Companies Currency Hedged ETF (ASX: FUEL), Betashares Japan Currency Hedged ETF (ASX: HJPN) and Global X Gold Bullion (Currency Hedged) ETF (ASX: GHLD).

Yes. The additions include Australian fixed interest ETFs like Betashares Interest Rate Hedged Australian Investment Grade Corporate Bond ETF (ASX: HCRD) and VanEck 10 Year Australian Government Bond ETF (ASX: XGOV), plus global fixed interest options such as Betashares Global Aggregate Bond Currency Hedged ETF (ASX: WBND) and iShares Core Global Corporate Bond (AUD Hedged) ETF (ASX: IHCB).

By expanding choice across sectors, regions and strategies, the new ETFs make it easier for everyday investors to diversify holdings—adding targeted exposure to areas like technology, resources, international markets, gold and bonds—within the InvestSMART Custom framework.
