Canberra provided $4 million in funding to the CSIRO for two 12-month trials under the NBN-enabled telehealth pilots program.

The CSIRO is running the two NBN-enabled telehealth trials funded by the $4 million grant from Canberra.

One trial is focused on monitoring chronic diseases in aged patients, and the other is the Indigenous Tele-Eye Care project.

Each trial will run for 12 months as part of the NBN-enabled telehealth pilots program.

The chronic disease monitoring trial will involve about 150 patients, and the Indigenous Tele-Eye Care project will involve about 900 patients.

The trials will operate in rural and local health clinics, nursing homes and patients' own homes.

The projects are NBN-enabled telehealth pilots, using the National Broadband Network to deliver remote health monitoring and tele-eye care services.

The $4 million grant to CSIRO for two 12-month NBN-enabled trials shows Canberra is financially supporting pilot programs to test telehealth solutions for aged chronic disease monitoring and Indigenous Tele-Eye Care.
