Pub expert's new role

KNIGHT Frank has appointed Russell Smith as its hotels and hospitality consultant, while Leigh Morris will take up the position as aged-care manager. Mr Smith was a hotel owner and operator for 15 years, buying his first hotel in Sale in 1987 and later purchasing a prominent Richmond hotel. He began working as a hotel broker in 2001, before starting a hotel-broking company in 2007. The company has now merged with Knight Frank. Mr Morris was originally a valuer in Melbourne.

Lend Lease starts search

LEND Lease's chief financial officer, Brad Soller, has decided to leave after 10 years, but will remain in his role until the end of January to ensure a smooth handover. A search for his successor has started. Mr Soller became group CFO in 2009. Before then, he held several senior management roles in Lend Lease.

Architect now a director

MULTI-DISCIPLINARY design house HBO EMTB has appointed Peter Risbey as a director. In this newly created role, Mr Risbey will be responsible for the management and co-ordination of HBO EMTB's architectural services in the firm's Melbourne studio. As well as commercial projects in Australia, China, India, Malaysia and Singapore, Mr Risbey's portfolio encompasses a range of sectors including sports, infrastructure, education, health and planning. His recent domestic portfolio includes a 41-level office tower on the site of the old Herald and Weekly Times building in Melbourne. Mr Risbey previously occupied senior positions with Peddle Thorp and Cox Richardson.
