MARKETS SPECTATOR: Finance faces trading places

This week has seen some major coming and goings of the movers and shakers in Australian finance.

David Birrell has been promoted to head of hedge fund sales Australia at UBS. Birrell replaces Thomas Anglin who leaves the UBS Sydney office for a job on the New York sales desk of the Swiss investment bank, servicing hedge funds.

Hugh Falcon has left Goldman Sachs to return to Macquarie Group as co-head of equity capital markets. Falcon joined Goldman in 2010.    

Investec has hired Conrad Anderson, formerly of Ord Minnett, as head of equity capital markets. Anderson starts at the firm on Monday.

These appointments were earlier reported by the Wall Street Journal and confirmed by people speaking on condition of anonymity.
