Mainstreaming voice apps
Apple's Siri may not be perfect but the fact that the tech giant decided to roll out the product in its current form highlights the belief that voice recognition applications are here to stay and could be the next big game changer in the mobile devices market.
As FT's Chris Nuttal points out this morning, the potential applications of the technology are enormous and there are a number of other companies out there exploring the same technology.
One of these is Vlingo which is very similar to Siri, providing access to online and on phone resources via voice control. The only difference is you can't have a conversation with it.
As this infographic produced by VLingo, courtesy of PCMag.com highlights, there is plenty of room for alternative applications to prosper as well.
