Letters: Renewables and article summaries

Readers ask for more information on investing in renewable energy, and praise the new article summary tables.

Renewable analysis

Regarding Tim Treadgold's January 21 article The power plays of 2013, I would like to see some more substantive analysis on renewables than the trite throwaway comment that Tim dished up: “Renewables: Summed up in two words: stay away.”

I think as subscribers we deserve more than this.

Editor’s response: Treadgold offers one more reason why renewable energy may be an investment to avoid in his article Shale set to blaze last year, while Michael Feller last year also offered some reasoning into the problems renewables face.

Summary improvement

I do like the new summary boxes in articles – Great improvement. Another idea that you may wish to pursue, is to be 'tougher' on contributors who exceed a length of two pages. I believe I am literate and numerate but not financially / economically trained. When an article exceeds two pages, it becomes much harder to follow and understand the impact.
