It's unusual how the recent media storm around Julian Assange's lockdown in the Ecuadorian embassy has polarised opinions about the man rather than his controversial website Wikileaks.

Before Assange's flight into the embassy, the two were very much intertwined. You couldn't condemn Assange without taking a swipe at Wikileaks.

But with news around Assange beginning to ramp up, and stories on wikileaks cables rolling onto the backburner, the link is starting to dissipate.

Assange is being perceived as much a champion of free speech as much as he is the founder of Wikileaks. But is this a good thing for Assange's current dilemma?
