Apple has revealed their new iPad and it is set to sell like crazy when it finally hits Australian stores on March 16.

To add to the good news, Apple is cutting the price of their current iPad 2 model to compete with the lower end of the tablet market.

But as today's infographic shows, Apple's tablet revolution didn't always cause such stir. In fact sales didn't explode until after the iPad 2 was released.

With this release, Apple will be hoping that sales will continue to rise, but as Adam Turner says in his review of the new iPad 4G, will the product actually sell overseas when many countries (like Australia) just don't have the network infrastructure to fully support 4G. Consumers may not see a need for the upgrade.

Fans would have been disappointed if 4G wasn't included in the latest rendition of the iPad, but will Apple's tech gamble pay off overseas?

The data for this infographic is from Apple and sourced from Reuters.
