InvestSMART's diversified ETF portfolios have delivered solid results over the past year, returning between 3.2% and 6.9% in the 12 months to the end of July 2026. Over 10 years, the diversified portfolios have returned between 3.7% and 9.2% a year on average.

Keep in mind that past performance is not an indication of future performance.

The chart below illustrates how InvestSMART's diversified portfolios have performed compared to funds in the same risk category over five years to 31 July 2026.

As you can see, over five years, the diversified portfolios have delivered annual returns of between 2.9% and 8.5% on average, outperforming competitor funds by an average annualised return of between 0.1% and 1.3%.

InvestSMART's single-asset portfolios returned between 0.4% (Australian Bonds) and 11.3% (Property & Infrastructure) in the 12 months to the end of July 2026, and between 0.7% p.a. (Australian Bonds) and 12.7% p.a. (International Equities) over 10 years.

July wrap-up

It's been a good start to the new financial year for Australian shares. The S&P/ASX 200 rose 2.3% over the month, outperforming most major developed markets, with energy and financial stocks among the strongest performers.

Overseas markets were a bit more mixed. After a strong run earlier in the year, some of the big US technology and semiconductor names came under pressure in July while other parts of the market held up better. Australia's relatively low exposure to the global AI sell-off also worked in its favour.

Inflation also eased slightly, with annual CPI falling to 3.8% in June. While the result was better than expected, it is still above the Reserve Bank of Australia's (RBA) target range of 2%-3%. So, even though the RBA kept the cash rate on hold in August, it made it clear another increase isn't off the table.

All up, it's been an encouraging start to the financial year locally, even if there are still a few uncertainties for investors to keep an eye on.
