How apt is your app?

Some apps are used furiously, while others sit idly by in the consumer smartphone basement.

So far there have been 10 billion app downloads from Apple's store since it was launched in 2008 – what we don't know is how many app deletes there have been. The initial success of an app can be somewhat reliant on the notoriety of the organistion, but whether that app goes on to build a better relationship with a customer or potential customer through regular use is a different story. As Thomas Husson explains, businesses contemplating building an app rather than a mobile website because 'they're all the buzz' are missing the point. Both suit different purposes and if you pick the wrong one, the result will be the same – no gain.
