Gilbert Tobin has more bragging rights, this time in equity capital markets.

The number one adviser among law firms in Australia in mergers and acquisitions this year has also topped the league table in equity and equity-related transactions among law firms for the first three months of 2014, according to data from Thomson Reuters.

Gilbert Tobin advised on nine Australian equity capital markets transactions in the first quarter, says Thomson Reuters. In contrast, Allens, Herbert Smith Freehills and King & Wood Mallesons together did six equity capital markets transactions, according to Thomson Reuters.

“This is an amazing result particularly after topping the M&A league tables for the same period and shows the depth and breadth of the firm’s corporate group across Sydney, Melbourne and Perth,” Rachael Bassil, a partner at Gilbert Tobin in Sydney, told Data Room.

Sydney-based Gilbert Tobin managed $1.01 billion of equity capital markets transactions in the three months to March 31.

There were a total of 115 equity capital markets deals in the first quarter this year, according to Thomson Reuters.
