Overseas property investors

I've just read Robert Gottliebsen’s article, A new China factor. I don’t know how anyone other than a property developer or a current homeowner could welcome a flood of overseas buyers putting up the price of property in this country. There are people having to take out mortgages that they may never be able to repay in order to put their feet on the bottom rung of the property ladder.

One other thought; I know someone who won't be feeling euphoric if Tony Abbott becomes Prime Minister!

Praising the optimists

I would just like to say that I love the articles from Clifford Bennett. He and Adam Carr are a breath of fresh air amongst all the doomsayers. Please keep Clifford writing for Eureka Report.

New additions

Eureka Report seems to have an increasing number of guest contributors, but not all feature on the team list. Without knowing the backgrounds of various contributors it is difficult to assess the veracity of their views.

Name withheld

Editor’s response: Thanks for your query. Our team list includes our in-house writers and regular external contributors. All articles by external contributors, including those not included in our regular team list, include an author description at the bottom.

Brendon Lau's Uncapped 100

I would like to do some more research into Brendon Lau’s Uncapped 100 list. The table in his articles lists the names of the 100 companies and some brief but interesting data.  Would it be possible to obtain more detailed data such as yield, ROE, levels of debt etc for each of the companies?

On another note, I strongly approve Eureka Report's movement towards giving more specific investment advice and I value the different points of view offered by members of the team.  Keep up the great work.

Editor’s response: Thanks for your letter. Brendon’s table will be updated on a regular basis, but for the time being will not include the detailed data you mention. We will review this issue on a periodic basis and may include it at a later date.

ATO frustrations

I am a new subscriber and I am very happy about my choice. I just wanted to voice my frustration with the Australian Taxation Office. I submit an Income Tax Withholding Variation (ITWV) for my wife every year. This year I searched for the form online, but it seems it’s no longer available to download. Instead, I have to order it and get it posted out, which would five days, or else fill it out online. But I have a Mac and I gave up on using the ATO online option years ago as it’s not compatible with Mac.

Regards

Lou Martin
