Business Spectator is seeking an experienced Melbourne-based sub-editor to join its news and commentary desk.

Working within a small team, you will play a major role in producing daily editions of the publication from Monday to Friday, including some public holidays.

You will start early (approximately 6.30am) and be responsible for sub-editing several news and commentary stories each day, checking for errors and clarity, as well as producing catchy headlines and summaries.

You will also need to identify commentary pieces likely to be of interest to our audience from other websites and upload them to the site.

Required attributes:

-- A high level of interest and enthusiasm for business, politics and economics;

-- The ability to write catchy headlines and precedes;

-- An eye for detail to pick out spelling, grammatical and simple mathematical errors;

-- Capable of responding to tight deadlines and prioritising amongst a multitude of tasks; and

-- Capable of working autonomously sometimes with limited supervision.

Experience:

-- We are looking for someone with one to three years’ sub-editing experience.

-- Digital experience is essential.

-- Experience with content management systems is preferred.
