The launch of Apple's latest smartphone has escalated the 4G bill shock debate, with two major telco groups issuing warnings about why too much 4G could be bad for customers and burn a hole in their pockets in double quick time.

It's the speed of 4G that's the problem. Authorities are worried that users will get hooked on loading online videos with 4G. It will load significantly faster but it will also use up a lot more data. If you aren't monitoring usage that lowball data plan can evaporate in a blink of an eye.

There's also the concern that the telcos aren't obligated to provide any notifications of a customers 4G use until October 27, creating a window for 4G abuse.
