Aust stocks set to open higher

Local market looks to EU bourses for direction as Wall St closed for Presidents' Day.

The Australian market looks set to open higher following a mixed performance on European markets with Wall Street closed for the Presidents' Day public holiday.

At 0645 AEDT, the March share price index futures contract was up 28 points at 5,373.

In local economic news on Tuesday, the Reserve Bank of Australia releases the minutes of its February board meeting and the Australian Bureau of Statistics releases January's international merchandise imports data.

In equities news, BHP Billiton, Pacific Brands, Asciano, Arrium, Monadelphous, Sonic Healthcare, Amcor, Hills and Seven West Media are expected to post first half results, while Coca Cola Amatil is due to announce full year results.

In Australia, the market on Monday finished higher, buoyed by local earnings results and offshore gains.

The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was up 26.6 points, or 0.50%, at 5,382.9 points.

The broader All Ordinaries index was up 27.9 points, or 0.52%, at 5,394.8 points.
