The Australian dollar has held its ground after gains in most commodity prices boosted the greenback.

The local unit was trading at 92.56 US cents at 0630 AEST, up from 92.55 cents on Tuesday.

Gains in most commodity prices overnight buoyed the US dollar after the release of strong US economic data, including strong reports on durable goods orders and home sale prices.
