Aust dollar lifts in early trade

Local currency rises as US stocks, oil and gold gain despite Syria fears.

The Australian dollar is higher as United States stocks, oil and gold prices gained overnight despite tensions over a possible US attack on Syria.

At 0630 AEST, the local unit was trading at 89.43 US cents, UP from 89.14 cents on Wednesday.
