Finnish games developer Rovio Entertainment has decided to fling its popular avian creation across the final frontier, with Angry Birds now set to go to space.
According to Rovio, Angry Birds Space will be a whole new twist on a game that took mobile gaming by storm in early 2010. The game has been downloaded over 500 million times and is hands down a bestseller on the Apple App Store.
Here's the teaser that Rovio has on its site.
Angry Birds isn't the only game that Rovio has made but it is certainly the best and the our love affair with the angry avians has spawned an empire of sorts, with dedicated retail stores and a planned theme park on its way. And if you thought games weren't for serious types, Angry Birds Space has signed up National Geographic and NASA as launch partners. That's as serious as you can get.
Just what makes the game such a hit is a mystery to me but here's an infographic by AYTM that takes a stab at unravelling the psychology of the game.
