Contractor at Oyu Tolgoi mine in Mongolia believed to have axed 2000 jobs.

A contractor at Rio Tinto's (RIO) Oyu Tolgoi copper and gold mine in Mongolia has laid off about 2,000 workers, Bloomberg TV Mongolia reported on Wednesday.

The workers were employed at the mine by contractor Redpath Mongolia LLC.
