The Australian dollar is more than two US cents lower after data showed the euro zone unemployment hadn't fallen.

At 0630 AEDT, the local unit was trading at 92.59 US cents, down from 94.92 cents on Thursday.

The unemployment rate across the 17-country currency area stayed at 12.2 per cent in September, with about 19.5 million people classed as jobless by European Union data agency Eurostat.
