Given our change of heart on Coles Myer, it's time to update our recommendation on Woolworths, as we no longer want subscribers switching into the former. Interestingly, we read that Woolworths believes the Coles/Shell petroleum deal will have no effect on Woolies business, while Coles obviously thinks it will blow the competition out of the water. We suspect the truth lies somewhere in the middle and could well be bad news for both companies. Woolworths shares are down 3% since issue 126/May 03 (Sell and Switch to Coles Myer - $12.92). It remains a very well managed retailer but is still too expensive for us. BETTER VALUE ELSEWHERE.
