Prompted by speculation in The Australian newspaper, Thorn Group has confirmed that 'some parties have expressed interest' in the group, as part of its strategic review. No decision has yet been made on the offers.
Thorn trades at a steep discount to its net tangible asset of over $1 per share, almost all of which is represented by loans that will be repaid in a few years.
Unfortunately, shareholders have seen little of it in recent years as much of the cash collected has been put back into a weakening business. A strategic review was needed as Thorn is worth more dead than alive.
The announcement also noted that the company's 2019 annual financial report will be released before the market opens tomorrow and - somewhat cryptically - recommended that 'investors wait for this release'.
The stock is up around 10% since our last review. HOLD.
