The market continues its love affair with Southcorp, with another 13.1% advance since last issue (Accumulate - $5.67). The company has persuaded the owners of Rosemount Wines to sell for around $1.41bn, thereby creating an immensely large Australian wine company, while it's also announced a management buyout of its less lucrative US packaging business. The interim result wasn't so good - in the six months to 31 December Southcorp boosted sales 5.2% to $1.36bn, but net profit after tax dropped 12.3% to $80.3m – but the future is bright. Continue to ACCUMULATE.
