M2: Interim result 2014

The squabbling continues over the NBN, but M2 should be able to earn its crust whoever's allowed to build what.

The to-and-fro over the National Broadband Network continued this week, with the ACCC saying it favours competition with NBN Co in high-value areas. Would-be competitors TPG Telecom and iiNet said they agreed, although the largest potential competitor, Telstra, is still relying on effectively selling its infrastructure to an NBN monopoly. Optus also appears to favour an NBN monopoly.

The arguments are likely to intensify ahead of the cost-benefit analysis due to be presented by the Vertigan committee by June, so watch this space.
