Research Assistant

Intelligent Investor Share Advisor is Australia's leading stock research publishing service with a history stretching back over 15 years.

Due to the launch of new services, we're looking for a Research Assistant to work one to two days per week on a casual basis assisting the analytical team with a variety of regular tasks.

Initially this won't include researching stocks or industries, but that could change depending on the person.

You will be working alongside the analysts, though, which means there's plenty of opportunities to learn about investing. There may eventually be a full time research role for an exceptional candidate.

The hours are flexible and would most likely suit a university student, but we'll consider your application if you can meet the following:

1. You must be able to listen carefully and take instruction.

2. You must be able to work with a sense of urgency while producing high quality and accurate work. Attention to detail and taking pride in your work are paramount.

3. You must be able to think for yourself. If you see something that can be done better, you must have the confidence and ability to find solutions.

4. You must have excellent spreadsheet skills and the ability to quickly learn how to use new systems, such as Capital IQ.

5. You must be able to work to tight deadlines.

You don't need to be an experienced investor and have read 50 books on value investing to succeed in this role, but you will need good IT skills, the ability to work as part of a team and independently, and a strong work ethic in a results-orientated environment.

The sharemarket is a dynamic and demanding industry and you'll need to work to tight deadlines.
