Don't get hooked on Tassal

A great product doesn’t always make a great company – and the weather isn't making aquaculture any easier.

Tassal Group doesn’t distribute its earnings to shareholders as cash – it piles them up in the form of fish. The company made a statutory net profit of $41m for the year to 30 June – 140% more than in 2004. For anyone looking at the headline numbers, that’s a great result. But let’s put it in context.
