Investors in Challenger Infrastructure Fund should have received a welcome surprise in their bank account on the 20 March 2013. A further 15 cents per security was paid following the satisfactory competition of an audit by the Australian Tax Office.

Payment date  Amount ($) Type
Table 1: CIF payments (per share)
08 Nov 12 1.16 Capital return
27 Nov 12 0.11 Capital return
20 Mar 13 0.15 Capital return
15 May 13 0.01 Capital return
Total 1.43

This takes the running tally to $1.42 per security returned to shareholders since the wind up of the fund. For tax purposes these payment have been defined as capital returns rather than distributions. A further 1 cent per security will be paid on 15 May 2013 from the proceeds of winding up the investment  trusts.

The model Income and Growth portfolio have banked income of $540 and $1,350 respectively as each owned Challenger.

Overall, we’re very happy with the result. Depending on which recommendation was followed you’ve either done all right or considerably better. We’ll be sure to update you following the final payment in May.
