Ansell: Result 2013

Ansell’s result was below the company’s expectations and, as Nathan Bell explains, with top line growth hard to come by we’ve got one eye on the exit.

Ansell’s full year result was worse than the company had forecast, but largely in line with our more modest expectations. Revenue would’ve barely increased if it weren’t for acquisitions that helped increase revenue 10% to $1.3bn compared to a year earlier. Earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) increased 12% to $167m, while net profit increased 5.2% to $137m. Earnings per share increased 5.5% to 104.6 cents, and an unfranked final dividend of 22 cents was also declared (ex date 30 Aug) bringing the annual total to 38 cents, up 7%, for a current dividend yield of 1.9%.
