Solarbuzz has produced its view on the most likely top ten list of solar PV module suppliers for the 2012 calendar year, with Yingli displacing Suntech in first spot for megawatts of module shipments. The list is below and Solarbuzz analyst Ray Lian estimated in an article in PV Tech that the 10 companies could make up 50 per cent of total global solar PV module shipments for 2012.

This list illustrates the continuing trend towards Chinese dominance, with US company First Solar dropping from second to fourth and Japan's Kyocera dropping out of the top 10 altogether, replaced by Chinese-based JA Solar.

According to SolarBuzz, Yingli will become only the second company to ship more than 2 gigawatts of solar PV (Suntech was the first) within a calendar year and could ship more megawatts than has been achieved by any other company to date.
