The war on free clicks

Google's profits are rising and it looks like that sponsored, pay-per-click ads are giving organic clicks a real run for its money.

It’s easy to forget that Google is a company bent on turning your internet interactions into profits. That cosy “do no evil” mantra and those quirky Google logos may disarm the most savvy internet user, but behind the scenes Google is finding new ways to make your clicks profitable without you even knowing it.

Today’s infographic from wordstream gives some sobering statistics on Google’s efforts both to improve the net, and its profitability. And with the revenue of its core internet business rising 21 per cent in the previous quarter – the strategy appears to be working.
