THE DISTILLERY: Crowning glory?

One jotter asks how Packer will ice the Echo deal in Sydney, while others wonder what Kerry Stokes will gain from News Ltd's ConsMedia bid.

After inking casino deals from coast to coast this week, nobody is doubting James Packer's abilities around the negotiating table. But one jotter wonders whether even Packer can surmount the huge obstacles that still lay between him and Sydney's casino market. Others point out the journey is going to cost him dearly. In the wake of another major announcement, that News Limited is clear to bid for Consolidated media, there are also questions about what Kerry Stokes might be able to extract from a potential deal.
