Stevens named iSelect CEO

Alex Stevens to replace interim chief David Chalmers from March 31.

Alex Stevens has been appointed chief executive officer of insurance comparison website iSelect (ISU).

Most recently Mr Stevens was managing director of Fonterra Brands Australia, but he comes to the role with over two decades of domestic and international experience in the consumer product and finance sectors.

iSelect executive chairman Damien Waller said Mr Stevens' "inspiring leadership style" as well as his experience and track record gave the board great confidence in his appointment.

Mr Stevens will join iSelect on March 31, when he will commence a handover with interim chief executive David Chalmers.

Mr Chalmers took over from Matt McCann last October, following his resignation.

Last month, iSelect flagged a lift in full-year earnings after increasing its first-half net profit, but said it was all too aware of risks to its business including government policy on private health insurance.

Net profit attributable to members lifted to $3.7 million in the six months to December 2013, compared with $205,000 in the six months to December 2012.
