Major miner Rio Tinto (RIO) has appointed two non-executive directors with backgrounds in the resources industry.
Anne Lauvergeon and Simon Thompson will join the boards of Rio Tinto Ltd and Rio Tinto plc and will both join the sustainability and nominations committees.
Ms Lauvergeon has more than 30 years of experience in industries including steel and nuclear power and also worked as an adviser to the French president.
Mr Thompson has experience in mining, oil and international investment banking.
Vivienne Cox will retire as a non-executive director on April 15.
The miner said it is making good progress in its search for another Australian to join the boards.
